Dzień 13 – mocno zwolniliśmy. Jesteśmy dokładnie w centrum wyżu: zero wiatru, zero chmur, palące słońce. W ciągu dnia trudno jest chodzić boso po pokładzie (zbyt mocno rozgrzany), ale wieczorem musimy zakładać ciepłe kurtki i nosić je na nocnych wachtach. W końcu przemieściliśmy się ponad 1000 mil morskich na północ. Z braku wiatru sporo płyniemy na silniku. Jednak mamy świadomość, że nie starczy nam paliwa do Azorów. Musimy więc w końcu spotkać jakiś wiatr…
13e jour – on a beaucoup ralenti. Nous sommes exactement au centre d`un anticyclone : pas de vent, pas de nuages et le soleil brule. Dans la journee il est difficile de marcher pieds nus sur le pont du bateau car ca brule ! Mais le soir nous devons sortir nos pulls, nos vestes et s`habiller pour les quarts de nuit. Apres tout, nous avons fait 1000 milles nautiques en direction du Nord. Comme il n`y a pas de vent, nous devons marcher au moteur. Cependant nous sommes conscients de ne pas avoir assez de gasoil pour aller jusqu`aux Acores. Donc, nous devons obligatoirement retrouver du vent…
Day 13 – we’ve slowed down considerably. We’re right in the center of a high pressure system: no wind, not a cloud in the sky, burning sun. And yet, while it’s almost impossible to walk barefoot on the deck (because it gets so hot during the day) as of early evening and during the night watches we have to put on our warm clothes; we did move more than 1000 nm to the North after all. With no wind we’re using a lot of motor but, to be sure, we do not have enough fuel to get us all the way to the Azores. So we must find at least a day worth of sailing under the sails…
