Dzień 10 – wiatr nam sprzyja. Nasilił się nocą (na tyle, ze musimy zrzucić genakera, postawić w to miejsce foka i założyć jeden ref na grocie), wiec całkiem nieźle posuwamy się do przodu. Przebyliśmy już 1500 Mm a wiec w linii prostej pozostało nam około 900 do Azorów. Opierając się na prognozach, które udaje nam się teraz zciągać przy pomocy telefonu satelitarnego jakby łatwiej, sadzimy, ze przez najbliższe 2 – 3 dni będziemy płynęli tym samym kursem z prędkością 7 - 9 węzłów. Jeśli pogoda się utrzyma, powinniśmy dotrzeć do Horty na wyspie Faial w archipelagu Azorów za 6 dni. Jeśli pogoda się zmieni … możemy dotrzeć tam w zupełnie innym czasie… Takie jest żeglowanie! Może właśnie dlatego tak je kochamy?!?!
10e jour – le vent nous est favorable. Il forcit la nuit au point de nous obliger a changer notre genneker contre le foc et de prendre un ris dans la grand-voile. Nous avancons donc tout a fait bien. Nous avons deja fait 1500 milles et, en ligne droite, nous n`avons plus que 900 milles jusqu`aux Acores. En s`appuyant sur les previsions meteo que nous obtenons plus facilement en ce moment, nous estimons qu`en maintenant notre vitesse (7-9 nds) et notre cap inchanges et si le temps ne change pas, dans 6 jours nous devrions arriver a Horta sur l`ile de Faial dans l`archipel des Acores. Mais si le temps change… nous pourrions y etre dans un delai totalement different… C`est ca la voile ! Et c`est peut-etre pour cela qu`on l`aime ?!
Day 10 – the winds continue to cooperate: they grew stronger during the night (we had to drop the gennaker, unfurl the jib and take one reef at 3:30 a.m.) so we’re making good progress. We’ve covered over 1,500 nm so far which leaves us about 900 nm in straight line to reach the Azores. Based on our weather forecasts, which Krzysztof is getting with much more regularity now, we think we’ll be able to maintain this straight line course and the 7 – 9 knots speed over the next 2 – 3 days. If the weather holds unchanged beyond that point we should be getting to our first stop in the Azores at Horta on Faial Island within 6 days. If the weather changes, however, we may be getting there at another time…or not…well, such is sailing but we’re loving it anyways!
